so i skipped khara's party tonight in favor of spending the first night of my jen-less weekend quietly at home, cleaning and reading and watching tv. i wasn't exactly in the right mood to laugh and take photos while everyone got shitfaced around me. khara IMed me a while back with the invitation/demand "come to the fuckin party!" apparently she and jessi were already wasted, heather wasn't yet. i hope none of them were driving home. the hoyers are out of town so i guess everyone could crash there. do they know i don't drink? i'm not sure. at jess' house last time i tried some of the parrot bay rum with jessi, but while she found it delicious i was chugging down water to erase the strong, sour, alcohol-y taste. it's a good thing i didn't drink any more, or i'd have had to stay over and watch dawson's creek with all of them. or maybe i could have tolerated it if i were drunk? but it's the getting drunk part that i can't tolerate, isn't that funny? sure, i know people say a drink or two lowers your inhibitions and relaxes you, but if getting to that point of relaxation requires me to drink something that is both nasty-tasting and, yes it's true, TOXIC to the human body, i'll have get my jollies elsewhere. i do long to try a margarita, though. or a daquiri. i would like to experience the more pleasant effects of a moderate amount of alcohol, if it were palatable and only if i were enjoying it in the company of friends, not guys, and not in a place where i'd ever have to get behind the wheel of a car, and not in a quantity where i would fear for the well-being of my liver. i don't want to be falling down drunk because that entails a hangover. . but people always talk of being very relaxed after a glass or two of wine....i'd like to know how that feels. you know, i bet a whole lot of that freshman twenty crap comes from the unnecessary calories in booze. if college kids avoided that, i bet they'd all be a lot slimmer. i'm pretty sure they're not all drinking bud lites and counting carbs while they're falling face down in puddles of their own vomit....
all this said, i hope everyone at khara's is safe tonight, especially flanny. yawn. late. hey it's sunday! greg and sara both come home today. yipee!
