Here it is, year number seven; not much different than the others, really, except I'm more alone now than I was last year. Today is our induction to Phi Beta Kappa, and though I'm now not the only one whose parents aren't coming, due to the awful rain, I wish so much that I could look out at the audience and see their faces. Out of the wedding picture I keep on my desk, they're all gone--my parents, my grandparents, my nana that I never knew anyway. It feels like there's no one left to call anymore. No one to be proud of me who's not my friends or Sean. There's Jen, of course, and she tries, but it's not the same.
Today I miss them both so badly it hurts. It's just not fair.
