my best friend got asked out by the boy she's secretly been adoring! yipee! i love when things like this happen. and it's amusing, because i've been trying to convince her to ask him out herself and not wait around for him to take charge, and she's been insisting that she really wanted him to ask her first, and lo and behold, he did it! a man who is not afraid to call a girl up and ask her to dinner is a rare find in our advanced society. it seems with the advance of feminism and gender equality, a lot of guys no longer feel obliged to take the iniative, preferring to let the girls chase them instead. what most of these boys fail to realize is that equality or no equality, most girls still like being pursued...."wooed" being the old term. personally, i like it both ways, but i'm much more likely to do it myself rather than get frustrated waiting for him to do something.

so it seems that ashley, sandy and annie are not going to europe with us. hilary is; her parents said they wouldn't force her to choose between portugal and martha's vineyard. personally that wouldn't be a conflict for me, since my friends are almost all in the hill class, with the notable exception of my best buddy meg *i love you meghan!* taryn and nicole have become worried about why annie's not going. since she has a bad feeling about it, they're getting a bad feeling about it. i think about it this way: if i die on that plane, at least i'm dying with my friends, instead of staying home and losing all my friends in a fiery plane crash. i think the second would be worse than the first. although naturally i have no plans to die or be harmed in any way while in portugal or en route to portugal! and i don't have a death wish, either, since there's so many things i look forward to in life, and so many people to be thankful for. topping the list right now are my friends and of course my beloved boyfriend greg *i love you greg*
