i will NOT accept that my arguments are "moot". i believe in education, i believe that it opens your mind and helps you improve your understanding of the world. i acknowledge that some people manage to be self-taught, but the majority of the populace requires education. it's not brain-washing, it's learning, and a great majority of people who feel that they know all they need to know andthey can teach themselves everything and are completely self-sufficient are egotists and idiots. i'm sorry if some people's parents didn't raise them to believe that you strive to do your best, no matter what, or that the education they got was crappy. that doesn't mean that Education is useless. i would not trade this experience for anything, and i can't understand people who just see college as a means to an end, to that 'useless" piece of paper that will get you a job.
tonight a disturbing parallel was drawn between greg and charles. they have virtually the same opinions on the value of education, though apparently charles more successfully slacked his way into uconn. this is the first thing i've ever really disagreed with him on. i think this is one of those Things that i want in a partner, i want someone who believes in education. i never want another relationship with someone who likes to do just enough to get by, never bothers to exert themselves to do their best, and thinks that this is all worthless. that's such shit. lazy bastards. (my other main Thing is no atheists--they depress me.)
and now i'm angry. this is all sean's fault for being a cheater and getting me on this topic in my head. grrrrrrrrrr.
