i almost died today. driving down with my mom in the tahoe, we skidded on ice and did a 180 in the road, hitting the concrete barrier with the front of the car and then the back, and winding up facing traffic. i have never been so scared in my entire life; strangely, though, my life didn't flash in front of me. it was like one horrible, drawn-out moment. i've never been in a skid-out like that before, and in a perverse way it was almost fun because the car was moving in a graceful way that it never normally would, but then there was just the reality that i could have died. thankfully my mom and i were both fine (she was driving, not me), but the tahoe suffered a little damage to the rear bumper, resulting in my back left door refusing to open. my mom promised she'd have it repaired, though, since she was at fault. i was literally holding on the seat the rest of the way there. i only relaxed my muscles once or twice. i even prayed, and i don't generally pray, but when we skidded a little again (in four wheel drive, going 35 mph, in just slush) i closed my eyes and asked god to just let us get there safely. which we did, and my mom got home fine (taking the highway instead of the merrit parkway which we were on).

in other news, i'm here, i'm all moved in, i'm just waiting for wendy to arrive and then lauren to come back from picking up andrew at the train station so we can go out to dinner. her dad's taking us to joe's american bar and grill, which is super nice of him. it's good to be back, even if dahts isn't coming till tomorrow and no one knows when popham's getting here. all is well. except for poor tahoe, but i still love it.
