i can't impress upon you any further the importance of having an education. i've reminded you over and over that, your "connections" nonwithstanding, you need that little piece of paper to secure you a place in this world. you say you have no ambition--i just wonder how the thought of living like a bum, with no money and no future, doesn' t furnish you just enough ambition to get off your ass and learn something useful. do you want to let your life go to shit? maybe i wouldn't care if i wasn't so angry about the fact that you have squandered opportunities that less fortunate people would have given anything for. the public education you scorn would be like the blessing of god to someone who knows what it's like to struggle to make ends meet. maybe you need to learn what it's like to really suffer in a free-market economy with no skills before you appreciate what your middle-class life has handed you, and what you have spurned.
