The weekend was also interesting. the project revolution concert was ok. my only problem was that the only band i was really there to see was linkin park, who came on at 10:30. we got there at like 1:30, and all those successive hours of being surrounded by heat, cigarettes and really disgusting pot smoke resulted in me feeling sick to my stomach just as linkin park came on, with the further result that i spent most of their set praying for it to stop, because the bass was so strong it was hitting right in the pit of my stomach. alas. however, i did manage to run into mara, pace's little sister, how random is that? and i got the chance to meet the long-awaited juan, who to my surprise is only my height, and not as hot as i was expecting. still he seemed like a cool kid.
sunday was jay's eagle ceremony. Tommy was MC, and had to give a speech about jay which he only finished about forty-five minutes before the ceremony began. it was such a funny speech, and he did it really well. i must confess, however, that i spent a lot of the ceremony just looking at him and thinking things to myself like "damn, he's really hot." Men in uniforms, what can i say. actually that's not so true for boy scouts; i always thought greg looked kind of dorky in his. that's probably because his uniform had short sleeves and tommy's was a dress shirt.
afterwards we went to jay's house, where i forgot to ask to see his boa constrictors, damn it. he has this little brother, dylan, who is a blonde, angel-faced spawn of satan. tommy picked him up to say hi and the little angel bitch-slapped him right across the face! ok, yeah, i laughed, because it was funny, but still. the guys had a poker tournament, which is when i was on the trampoline. later they lit a bonfire (in addition to have a bunch of eagle scouts there, jay is also a volunteer firefighter and an emt, so no worries). actually what am i saying, no worries, because after using up a can of lighter fluid on the rather feeble fire, these responsible, safety-conscious young men decided to drop the metal can into the flames. and yes, it was tommy who actually did it, and then everyone raced for cover because it's supposed to explode. for some unexplained reason, this can just kind of melted, so no fireworks, boohoo.
wendy had arrived by this time, and was already being set upon by brian r, henceforth evil brian, and brian f, good brian, who just moved here from oklahoma and is the world's biggest flirt. she has a bf now, obviously, but let's just say the group dynamics were interesting for the rest of the evening.
there are some events, good and bad, that i just won't go into here, because they're just not suitable for public consumption. i had to leave at like 12:30 because i had to work the next day. the drive home gave me a lot of time to think.
further conclusions were reached through some discussions with wendy and also one last night with sara until like 3am, about relationships past and present. we both have a major stumbling block in our personalities that affects our relationships. mine is the whole thing about setting myself up for disappointment with high expectations. i've received scoldings on all sides to finally wrap up the problem i was having with tommy last week, the one that we never finished talking about and then i found every excuse to not have the opportunity. there is a lot of stuff i want to say, and some things i want to apologize to him for, like over-reacting and being bitchy about small stuff. optimally i would do this face to face, but again, i have been prodded to do it soon. last night wasn't my fault, because he called and said he was sick and going to bed. we'll have to see about tonight.
oh, and the movie "footloose", starring a young, sexy kevin bacon who looks a great deal like the beloved TFB, is not really worth your time. i had heard that the dancing was really good--HAH. gay-ass 80s dancing, that's what it was. if you desire sexy dance moves as part of your cinematic fare, sara recommends "dirty dancing: havana nights".
